Initial Teacher Training

Train to Teach with our Initial Teacher Training Programme

At Co-op Academies Trust, we believe in changing lives through education. We train future teachers to work with pupils, colleagues and communities – helping everyone succeed.

You’ll benefit from expert support, real classroom experience from day one, and a curriculum designed to help you grow confidently into a brilliant teacher.

Why Train at Co-op Academy Swinton?

Training at Co-op Academy Swinton gives you the opportunity to begin your career in a supportive, values-led 11–16 academy where wellbeing, achievement and professional growth are taken seriously. From day one, you’ll be immersed in school life and supported by experienced subject mentors, curriculum leaders and senior colleagues who understand how important the right guidance is at the start of your teaching journey.

Alongside the Trust’s Initial Teacher Training programme, trainees receive additional academy-based professional development covering key areas such as planning, assessment, behaviour, safeguarding and the use of data. You’ll learn from skilled practitioners, have access to shared curriculum resources and digital tools, and be encouraged to develop your own teaching style as your confidence grows.

Swinton serves a community where some young people face significant barriers to learning. Training here will challenge you to become an adaptable, resilient and purposeful teacher who can make a genuine difference. You’ll join a diverse community that believes education can be a force for equality, with the support, expertise and encouragement to give your career the strongest possible start.
