Team GB Atheletes Visit Co-op Academy Swinton!

An Inspiring Morning at Co-op Academy Swinton!

Today was a day we won’t forget, as we had the honour of welcoming not one, but two incredible Winter Team GB Olympians to Co-op Academy Swinton. From the moment they stepped through the doors, excitement filled the corridors, and the visit turned out to be every bit as inspiring as we hoped.

The morning began at Breakfast Club, where our students had the rare opportunity to chat with the athletes in a relaxed, friendly setting. Hearing directly about their journeys, challenges, and proudest achievements was a brilliant way to start the day, and a great reminder that big dreams often start with small steps (and a good breakfast!).

Next, our Year 8 students took part in a PE session they won’t soon forget. They threw themselves into the activities with real enthusiasm as the Olympians encouraged, motivated, and challenged them, sharing techniques, tips, and the positive mindset needed to thrive in sport.

To round off the visit, our Year 11 Sports Studies students joined an engaging Q&A session. Their thoughtful questions sparked honest, passionate answers from the athletes, giving students a deeper insight into elite performance, perseverance, and what it truly means to represent Team GB.

Overall, it was a fantastic morning, uplifting, memorable, and full of inspiration. We’re incredibly grateful to our guests for sharing their time, energy, and motivation with our academy. Today didn’t just bring excitement; it sparked pride, ambition, and a sense of possibility that we know will stay with our students for a long time.

Thank you to Team GB, Quaker, and Magic Breakfast!
