Co-op Academy Swinton breakfast club showcased at House of Commons
The positive impact of Co-op Academy Swinton’s breakfast club was recently showcased at a special Parliamentary Breakfast Reception held at the House of Commons.
Assistant Principal Charlotte Chambers was invited to attend the event as a guest speaker, representing Co-op Academy Swinton and sharing her experience of the breakfast club with MPs, school leaders, charities and organisations from across the education sector.
Charlotte spoke about how the breakfast club provides much more than breakfast before the school day begins. It gives students a warm and welcoming place to start their morning, where they can spend time with friends, take part in activities and develop important social skills.
From playing Uno and board games to simply having time to chat with friends and staff, the breakfast club helps create a positive and inclusive start to the school day.
Charlotte also shared how the club provides valuable wraparound support for local families, helping parents and carers manage their working day while knowing their children are in a safe and welcoming environment.
The event provided a great opportunity to showcase the work happening at Co-op Academy Swinton and highlight the difference the breakfast club makes to students and their families.
“Our breakfast club is about so much more than providing breakfast. It gives our students a positive and welcoming start to the day, while providing families with important wraparound support.
“It was a real privilege to share what we do at Co-op Academy Swinton and to show how our breakfast club makes a difference to our students and their families.”
The event was also an opportunity to meet other organisations working to support children and families, with new connections made and further conversations planned.
